Securitas provides Integrated Guarding Solutions to the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), one of the world’s foremost academic health centres that is spread out over four hospitals in Montreal. SNC Lavalin, on behalf of the MUHC, asked Securitas to develop the security component of the new “mega hospital”, which included specifications and costs for all security operations and technology.

The MUHC is a bilingual academic health network, and one of the largest in North America. Each year, their more than 17,000 nurses, doctors, researchers, staff, and students, plus 2,200 volunteers:
- Receive over 715,000 ambulatory visits, including 177,000 emergency department visits
- Receive almost 40,000 inpatients yearly
- Perform almost 35,000 surgeries
- Deliver over 3,000 babies
One key feature is that all security systems at the hospital will be paperless, using the latest technology to gain speed and efficiency by electronically transmitting – and digitally saving all safety and security-related activities and reports.
